After a period of uncertainty and a temporary withdrawal from US territories, SGRA Studio is breathing new life into its free-to-play fantasy RPG, Dragonheir: Silent Gods.

Dragonheir: Silent Gods Relaunches with Major Overhaul

The developer has announced a global “rebirth” for the game, promising a dramatically redesigned experience that addresses player feedback and aims to overcome the “mixed” reception of its initial launch. This ambitious relaunch features a complete overhaul of the combat system, significant adjustments to the pricing model, and more player-friendly progression.

From Mixed Reception to Global Relaunch

Initially launched to considerable fanfare and attracting over ten million players worldwide, Dragonheir: Silent Gods eventually faced challenges, including a ‘mixed’ rating on Steam and the discontinuation of its service in the United States in September 2024. This period saw the game become inaccessible on Valve’s platform for North American players.

SGRA Studio has confirmed that this revival comes after “significant changes in the development team,” signaling a dedicated effort to learn from past issues and re-engage its player base with a fundamentally improved product.

Strategic Combat Reimagined

At the heart of Dragonheir’s rebirth is a completely redesigned combat system. The original elemental affinity system, which often led to complex and sometimes frustrating team compositions, has been replaced. The new ‘comps’ mechanic simplifies team synergy, grouping heroes into intuitive categories such as Summon, Frost, Wild, Poison, or Support.

This innovative approach rewards players with additional benefits when characters of similar types are used together, encouraging more strategic and less restrictive team building. This rework promises a more accessible yet still deeply tactical grid-based experience.

Streamlined Progression and Player-Friendly Economy

A key area of improvement targets the game’s progression and monetization. SGRA Studio is committed to offering “significant price reductions” across the board. This includes lowering the cost of summons, a common pain point in many free-to-play RPGs.

Furthermore, the introduction of “targeted banners” will make it easier for players to acquire desired characters, reducing the reliance on sheer luck. Crucially, the implementation of “more reasonable pity systems” aims to mitigate bad-luck streaks, ensuring a fairer and more rewarding summoning experience for all players.

Beyond pricing, the progression system has been notably streamlined. All heroes now level up simultaneously, eliminating the previous resource drain associated with investing in characters that might later be benched. Tedious improvement materials, once required to unlock level milestones, have been removed entirely. Now, advancement only requires completing a simple trial, significantly smoothing the path to powerful heroes.

Enhanced World and Quality-of-Life Features

The rebirth extends beyond core mechanics to encompass the game’s world and overall player experience. Dragonheir: Silent Gods’ world has undergone a visual and functional overhaul. Players who previously struggled with navigation will appreciate new pathfinding options, making exploration more intuitive. For those eager to jump straight into action, the ability to skip cutscenes has been added, offering greater control over the pacing of their adventure.

Adding exciting new content, a roguelike mode called the “Ancestral Ruins” will challenge players with random events and offer a variety of blessings as they progress. This mode will also feature a rotating selection of weekly free heroes, providing an excellent opportunity for players to experiment with different characters and strategies without commitment.

Pre-Register and Veteran Bonuses

While a specific release date for the global relaunch has yet to be announced, players can pre-register now to secure a selection of in-game rewards upon its arrival. SGRA Studio has also confirmed a thoughtful gesture for veteran players: those who invested time or money in the original version of Dragonheir:

Silent Gods will receive additional bonuses in the new iteration as a token of gratitude for their continued support. This “rebirth” represents a significant pivot for Dragonheir: Silent Gods, demonstrating a commitment to addressing community concerns and fostering a more engaging, accessible, and rewarding fantasy RPG experience for its returning and new players alike.
